Christmas 2008!

Wow! Christmas Day came way to fast, but then the day slowed down to a snails pace while waiting for Derek to call home! I even went to Costco and bought the 6 phone Uniden special so that we could all talk at the same time. Unfortunately we found out that you can only talk on three at a time. And poor Derek could only hear one person at a time! None the less it was a very sweet sound when that phone rang. And event though I had a phone in my hand, Jaimie still beat me to answering it! I guess she does not understand the rules of being a Mom and getting to talk to your missionary first! I will be sitting on her when he calls for Mother's day!

It was so awesome getting to hear his voice again after 7 months! It was really weired hearing such a mature man talk. This was my first baby! I am not sure really what I expected, but he sounded different even from Mother's Day. He sounded great. He was so excited that they had a baptism on Sunday. He talked about how much he loves Bath. The people there are really nice to them. One funny thing he did tell us, they drive a mini van! Go figure. I bet that is a sight to see. He is just grateful that they have a mode of transportation that doesn't include snow shoes.
It was hard to get off the phone with him but he timed it right, so that he did have to go because of the late hour. Smart kid. Because he knows that I could have asked him questions for ever!
I have to say that it was by far the best Christmas present ever!

Some one did get me a gift!

I told you, they were pants! Big suprize!

Hummm...I wonder what this could be?

YES! Finally a foot soaker and messager all in one!!!!!

Oh Ya! Finally someone got me what I wanted!!!

5 Day's to go!

I am in so much trouble! Only 5 day's until Christmas!!!! And I have barley been shopping! And do I want to? NO! I guess I will have to join the other 90 percent of you that haven't done your shopping either! I went to the University Mall in Orem yestersday and did a little shopping. That is until Dallin called and said, 'hey Mom, where are you"? I told him where I was. He then said, "do you know that it is snowing hard out side"? Uhhh, no Dallin I am in the mall. "Well, you might want to start home, the roads are pretty bad." So I started walking back to where I came into the mall. When I had gotten there about 12:00 the sun was shinning. When I came out at 2:30 it was a blizzard! It took me 1 hour and 45 minutes to get home! The crazy thing was, when I got to American Fork the roads were fine. But when I started to go up the hill to our home it was snowing and the wind was blowing like crazy! Very strange weather!!!

Dallin and his Ballroom Dance Class!

I can't believe we have a kid who loves to dance! Let alone it's Dallin!
It was awesome to watch him and all the other kids dance. I am totally amazed as they have all been getting up at 5:00am for dance class. Now I can see girls doing this...but guys? It just goes to show you that reality TV can do some good! They were awesome! I can't wait to see their next concert.

Not the best picture, but Dallin and Grandma danced the foxtrot!

Our Awesome Niece Sadie Maughan

Our Beautiful and Awesome Niece, Sadie Maughan! (Yes I am bragging) We went to Dave's brothers house yesterday for Thanksgiving. It was allot of fun just eating and talking and eating some more! My 2 awesome nieces Sara and Sadie disappeared after dinner. I asked where they went, and someone said, oh I think they went to take a nap. Okay..not unusual after a big turkey dinner. Then later that night I finally found them and started chatting with them and after about 20 minute of idol chit chat, I asked Sadie how Hawaii was? She said it was awesome......meaning the beach was cool, the hotel was amazing! (they stayed in the Marriott). And that was about it. Then I asked her about the tournament. Well she said, it was good but they ended up losing. However, she then said; Oh I did make the second team all WAC! Which is a huge honor! She was the only player from Boise State to do so in about 10 years. We are very proud of her!!!! And I am especially jealous! Only 20 years old and she has been to Hawaii 4 times in the last 2 years. As for me.....not once!

I need to get a picture of her older sister Sara. She to is amazing, beautiful and is one of the nicest people you would meet. She is so fun to be around! She has the most beautiful singing voice. We need to really start encouraging her to audition for American Idol. And America's next top model. So Sara, if you read this. Get me a picture!
HONOLULU, Hawai’i – On Wednesday night the Western Athletic Conference released the 2008 all-conference volleyball teams with Boise State sophomore Sadie Maughan earning a spot on the second team. The team selections were based on the votes of the nine conference head coaches.

A 6-foot-4-inch middle blocker out of Murray, Utah, Maughan garnered her first career all-WAC honor and the first for the Broncos since the 2006 season.

A tough competitor at the net, Maughan leads the team in kills this season with 210, while also hitting a .278 percentage and a 2.16 per set average. She also has racked up 100 blocks, including 15 solo, to rank second on the team while also producing a 1.03 per set average.

Jamie Houston of Hawai’i was named the 2008 WAC Player of the Year while teammate Kanani Danielson was named WAC Freshman of the Year. New Mexico State head coach Mike Jordan was dubbed the 2008 WAC Coach of the Year by his peers.

The Broncos begin their first day of competition at the 2008 WAC tournament in Honolulu, Hawai’i. No. 7 seeded Boise State will face No. 2 and tournament host Hawai’i in a 10:30 p.m. (Mountain Time) match at the Stan Sheriff Center.

GO UTES!

Hey Buddy, watch where you are grabing! Isn't that a personal foul on # 9!
UTE'S 48 BYU 24
What great payback for last year!
The Utes are undefeated!!!! Poor Dave had to suffer watching the game at my parents house thanks to our "Big" screen that couldn't handle watching BYU lose to Utah! (JK) It is broken.
Dave, honey, there is always next year!

I Did It, I went to Twilight!

Okay, call me weired, but I just had to go see what all the big whoopla was about the book "Twilight" that has just about every Mormon woman going nuts along with all of the "Tweeners", which I happen to have one! So it was a great excuse to go and see it! I would have never gotten Dave to go to a "chick flick". And I really don't have any friends around here. So thank heavens the Lord sent me a girl! I may change what I just said...in about an hour. It was sold out at every theater with in 30 miles around here, but I did find 2 tickets for the 10:00 am showing on Saturday morning. Yep you heard me right! I actually got up and dressed to go to a movie at 10:oo am on a Saturday! I have never done that, and I don't plan on ever doing it again! But it was worth seeing what everyone was talking about, and so that I could be in the "loop" when Jaimie and her friends are talking about Edward and Jacob. I have to admit that after seeing it, I could understand why woman are going crazy. Darn it sucks to be old! Especialy since coming out of the theater there were masses of men headed over to the South Town Expo center to the big gun show! I had thoughts that I could use Jaimie as my excuse to go over there. Like....."I am looking for one big shot gun", like the one that Bella's dad had when Edward came to her house to meet her dad! That was awesome! However, I know absolutly nothing about guns, so I would have just looked like the big dorky mother that I am.

Jaimie and her friends learned the dance to "thriller" to wierd! I learned it when I was just about her age! She didn't believe me until I showed her pictures of me! And no you will not see my picture!

Jaimie was a bride from the cript! She went to a fun Halloween Party! It is a little wierd not having kids to take tricker treating!
Dallin just figured out there were girls in the next hot tub up from us!

Ahhh this is the life!

Jaimie in between hot tubs!

This was a very rare site. There was much fighting over this. Who got the bed and who slept on the floor. Well this is what ended up happening. They ended up in the same bed. But they made sure to "draw" a line! And Dallin would have never admited this had we not taken a picture! (Jaimie is in there somewhere)!

Okay, It was fall break here in Utah. Better known as "the deer hunt". And those of us that do not hunt, wonder what to do??? This year most of our friends and neighbors went to San Diego. To which we were extremely jealous. As we just LOVE San Diego and going to the beach. But thanks to the economy we had to stay around here. And at the very last minute, (Sunday afternoon) we decided to use some of Dave's marriott points and go stay in Park City, Utah.

We were able to stay at a hotel that is right on the mountain with a pool and 6 waterfall hot tubs that looks right out to the ski lift! It was so awesome! There were also tuns of things for the kids to do! One of our funnest trips and it was just for a day!

Jaimie and her friends decided to build a "GIRLS" tree house across the street!

They are hard at work!

They were having a blast!

SNOW!

It Snowed! Can you believe it snowed today on October 12th, 2008! Totaly crazy. I would have taken a picture, but it melted before I could charge my camera battery! Dallin is so excited he is already waxing his skies! However, his hopes will be dashed. As by next Friday it will be back to 75 degrees!

Derek is Transfered again!

We just recieved an email from Derek, saying that he has been transfered again.
He is still in the country, but in a town called Bath, New York. His new companion is Elder Knight. Hopefully he will like this new area as much as he did in Freedom.

Monday, October 6, 2008

We now know why Derek is loving Freedom, New York!

Good ol' country road! This is Freedom, New York, where Derek is currently serving.

This is some of the beautiful scenery that Derek gets to see every day!
And no that is not Derek. I'm guess he is at least standing back?

I'm wondering if the Mission President knows what his missionaries are up to?

I'm not sure who this is, but I'm guess an Eagle Scout?

Not sure what these Elders are up to! But it doesn't look good!

Derek and Elder Pace

They are in Freedon, NewYork
